In January 2015 at a 3D meeting at our church the ministers of all the churches on the South Cliff sat together at the front of the meeting and talked fairly frankly about themselves. As well as the ministers from the other churches on South Cliff other people from those churches came also and joined with us in our discussions.
From our meeting together that day grew the conviction that we needed to meet together and get to know each other better.
Since then we have been meeting together, circulating around our churches once a month for a time of worship and fellowship. From these meetings has grown the realisation that together we can take Christ’s teachings and His message of love out to our own neighbourhood more effectively than each church on its own.
So South Cliff Churches Together (SCCT) was born.
On 28th January 2016 there was a meeting at St. Edwards on Avenue Victoria to look at the way forward. At this meeting advice was taken into consideration from various groups and organisations in the area, including the South Cliff Community Group, the Rainbow Centre and the Scarborough Angels.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has helped to highlight our common love for Christ and His love for each one of us. We have also begun to find a new friendship, love and respect for each other. We hope this will continue.
